Erickson's Pest Deterrent Spray

Most bugs we deal with in the greenhouse / at home are Soft Bodied Insects.

Soft Bodied Insects are Spider Mites, Aphids, Thrips to name a few.

What this means for us is that they are susceptible to being covered in a spray and exterminated that way.

Neem oil has been a standard for many years. We do not use neem oil at Erickson's. but it has its applications.

The three main components of our Pest Deterrent Spray is. Soap, Alcohol, and oil. This spray has been something I have personally used for years. It checks all of the boxes when fighting Soft Bodied Insects. It is also non toxic. Meaning you can spray on veggies, flowers, or vegetative growth stage of cannabis. I personally prefer the smell of peppermint. So that is the oil we use. Once the pest problem has been dealt with. You can simply wash off any remaining residue if there is any at all.

Here are some general rule of thumbs when spraying Vegetative growth stage Cannabis.

  • Spraying early morning outside or before the lights come on in your tent

  • Spraying weekly for preventative measures

  • Spraying daily if pests are noticed

  • Make sure to saturate the underside of every leaf

  • I like to also spray down the walls and floor then wipe them down once a week to keep a clean environment.

Make sure to spray daily till bugs are gone!
Make sure to spray daily till bugs are gone!

If you would like to mix up a similar mixture at home.

This is a basic, all purpose, non harmful spray.

  • 1 gallon water

  • 3 drops of dish soap

  • 1 tablespoon of 70% isopropyl alcohol

The soap will coat the bugs and make it hard for them to breath and properly function.

The isopropyl will help with Powdery Mildew, Mealy bugs, and mold spores
